A pallet as the basis of a hydrobox

Many people already know what a hydromassage box is. More and more people have already experienced the joys of hydromassage procedures. But there are a number of risks behind the purchase of a hydrobox. After all, no one wants to constantly change sanitary ware and be in a state of “eternal” repair. Moreover, installing a hydromassage box is quite an expensive and troublesome procedure. And in appearance, all hydroboxes are already very similar to each other. Of course, a number of manufacturers add many different features to sell their products more expensively. But there are basic things that you need to pay special attention to.

Today we would like to focus on pallets for hydromassage boxes. After all, the pallet is the basis, the foundation of the construction of the hydrobox. It should not only withstand a person or several people in the hydrobox, but also hold the load of the walls of the entire structure of the hydromassage box well. Buyers often ask the same question – what is the thickness of acrylic. But the fact is that the pallet of the hydromassage box consists of several layers. And each of them is quite important. Each of these layers performs its function and, accordingly, each of the layers has requirements for strength and reliability.

PALLET

“A good pallet will not only last longer, but will also significantly increase the stability of the entire frame of the hydromassage box.”

So, the first layer is acrylic. Acrylic, as a material for plumbing fixtures, has already managed to prove itself on the good side. However, this is not surprising – it is warm (it will be much more pleasant for you to enter an acrylic pallet than a steel or cast iron pallet), it is quiet (water falling on an acrylic pallet will not make such a noise as, for example, a steel pallet), it is quite durable and easy to maintain. The minimum thickness of acrylic is 2.5 mm.

Let’s go further. The second layer is fiberglass. Acrylic pallets are glued to them, and it is fiberglass that gives rigidity. An important point in gluing with fiberglass is the composite materials with which the fiberglass is coated. Most often, the manufacturer, in pursuit of cost optimization, makes everything cheaper. This reduction in price has affected the pallets. Often, the manufacturer adds water to the glue used to coat fiberglass. Moreover, the consumer will not immediately be able to see such manipulations with the pallet. Problems will begin over time – because the incorrectly glued layer of fiberglass will begin to peel off over time.

But by itself, such a pallet can crack under the influence of weight. To avoid such problems, pallets are reinforced with boards or MDF panels. That is, boards or a solid panel are placed on the bottom between acrylic and fiberglass. Such strengthening makes it possible to withstand large masses and significantly extend the service life of the hydromassage box.

If the pallet is reinforced with a solid MDF panel, it will not only hold the weight load better and behave more reliably, but also the pallet will be heavier, and this will move the center of gravity of the entire frame of the hydrobox lower and significantly increase the stability of the structure as a whole.
